Job Description
We are looking for a Responsible and Reliable person with experience in canine care and welfare to join our team at Hillcote Pets, ideally starting induction from June/July ready to run boarding from September 2024. This is a role to cover maternity leave of the owner but could lead onto a more full time position. Please note that this is a self employed role and you would be expected to have a clear DBS check and UTR in place before employment commences.

The hours of this role may vary as whilst the daycare and walking is always in operation, but we do have occasional overnight stays, so applicants must be willing to work at the premises and stay overnight when required. Please only apply if you feel confident that you can complete the tasks below. Training will be provided.
Roles and Responsibilities
Daycare
Overnight Boarding
The job requires the applicant to arrive punctually, check the diary for scheduled dogs, ensure the daycare area is clean and safe, and greet the dogs. They must conduct welfare checks upon each dog's arrival, organize their belongings, and settle them indoors or outdoors. The applicant is responsible for walks, ensuring cleanliness and checking for ticks or cuts afterward. They must also oversee lunchtime and garden breaks, conduct administrative tasks, and perform final checks before the dogs' hometime. Overall, the focus is on maintaining a safe, clean environment and prioritizing the dogs' welfare.
The job requires the applicant to arrive at the property at the agreed-upon time, often 8pm, to look after overnight dogs. They will engage with the dogs, ensure regular toilet breaks, and put them to bed between 10 - 11pm. In the morning, they will wake up the dogs, let them out to toilet, and feed them breakfast as necessary. Flexibility in staying overnight for consecutive days may be required. Accommodation provided overnight.
Walking
The job requires the applicant to accommodate daycare schedules, collecting and returning dogs to their homes after 1 or 2 hours as agreed. They must take pictures and videos during walks to update owners regularly. Responsible waste disposal is essential, especially if walking outside of Stansted. Following individual owner instructions regarding on or off-lead walking is crucial, with off-leash only if confident and with strong recall. Safety is a priority; if encountering leashed dogs, all dogs must be leashed. Walking no more than 4 dogs simultaneously is mandatory (unless including owner’s resident dogs), using only approved equipment and representing the values of Hillcote Pets. Smoking while walking dogs is prohibited, and wearing branded clothing when possible is encouraged.
